On Monday 17th September, Year 8 went to Carrickfergus Castle, along with Mr Carlisle and Mr McClelland. It was a great trip, enjoyed by all. We learnt some fascinating facts about how the walls of the entrance, which are made of basalt rock, are over 800 years old. We also learnt how Hugh De Lacey’s men became trapped in the castle by Edward the Bruce, turned to eating rats and even ate some of their Scottish prisoners!

Many thanks to everyone who made this trip possible.
